Mangara Strengthens Partnership with Rice Farming Communities in Western Area Rural District

Mangara has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable agriculture and community development by working closely with rice farming communities in the Western Area Rural District. Through targeted support that includes the provision of quality agricultural inputs and the promotion of good farming practices, the company aims to boost rice productivity while building long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with farmers in the Western Area Region.

As part of this initiative, Mangara will provide seed rice, fertilizers, and continuous extension services to local rice farmers. These inputs and technical supports are designed to enhance farm management practices, improve crop health, and ultimately achieve higher yields and better-quality rice production. By focusing on both material support and knowledge transfer, the company seeks to empower farmers to adopt modern, efficient, and sustainable rice farming methods.

To officially launch the program, Mangara organized a discussion workshop and training session with community rice farmers on 18 May 2023. The workshop served as a kickoff activity ahead of the farming season and created a platform for open dialogue between the company and the farmers. During the session, participants discussed improved agronomic practices, proper use of fertilizers, seed selection, land preparation, planting techniques, and pest and disease management.

The training also emphasized the importance of collaboration, timely farm operations, and adherence to recommended practices to maximize yields. Farmers were encouraged to share their experiences, challenges, and expectations, allowing Mangara to better understand local needs and tailor its support accordingly.

According to Mangara, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to contribute to food security, increase household incomes, and strengthen the resilience of farming communities in the Western Area Rural District. By investing in farmers and fostering trust-based relationships, the company aims to create a sustainable rice value chain that benefits both producers and the wider community.

The kickoff workshop marked an important milestone in Mangara’s engagement with local rice farmers, setting the foundation for continued collaboration throughout the production cycle and beyond.
